Water returns to Bijilo Forest
Following increased concerns over monkeys leaving Bijilo Forest to forage and drink in nearby hotel gardens an agreement was recently reached to provide a water supply within the Forest Park. Project Gambia model works!
In the past, Project members have been involved in initiatives that have relied on the goodwill of tourists through donations. As many of you will know, Cassie and Craig spent the full field season 2006/7 in The Gambia. Part of their role was to see whether the model of giving public lectures to raise donations, could raise sufficient funds to cover the Project's basic running costs in The Gambia. After trying a range of start times and venues, a fortnightly schedule of the better venues proved successful and this model will be used in future.
